MEA Retreat – The Blue Mountains Gazette
The first Australian conduct of a Modern Elder Academy (MEA) retreat was held at Dantosa Blue Mountains Retreat in Katoomba from January 14-17. MEA is the world’s first midlife wisdom school, inspired by the intergenerational, mutual mentoring that Chip Conley (US hotelier and entrepreneur) experienced working at Airbnb, which led to his book, Wisdom at Work: the making of a modern elder.
The MEA retreat covered the challenge of aging gracefully, how wisdom can be shared, planning a legacy, and the conscious curation of the second half of one’s adult life.
Activities included bread-making, star-gazing and tasting local wines. The retreat was led by Gabriela Domicelj and Derek Young, alumni of MEA in Baja Mexico and owners of Dantosa.
